It's impossible not to smile when there's a Lurcher in class. Flossie started off the day by redesigning the dog guard in the boot of her owners car, and then proved that she can escape out of a harness quicker than Harry Houdini can get of a straitjacket followed by some celebratory laps of the field with her trophy harness in her mouth :-D After getting her class clown antics out the way, Flossie stepped up to prove how much she has come on in the four week foundation class, and definitely won the prize for the best 2 on 2 off contacts on the plank. Magic and our three pocket rockets Millie, Dottie and Tia all worked brilliantly and along with working on their contacts and channel weaves were completing some small foundation sequences. It was great to see Tia starting to drive onto the tunnels in front of Pauline. All these dogs have so much potential and it would be fantastic to one day in the future see them compete.
Our beginner class worked the same sequences as the foundation group but with the channel weaves as part of the course. Bertie the super Scottie was back from his holidays and proved that in the break he hadn't forgotten anything. Harry was working on some harder handling sequences where he really had to listen to Pauline, once we transfer what we get in training to competition they'll be no stopping this partnership. The three M's (Monty, Merlin and Morse) are all showing great improvement and are showing even more speed which (although I'm not sure all the handlers would agree) is fantastic.
Despite the rapidly fading light we managed to get a quick turn in with our dogs too. Although we only manage a couple of turns with each of our dogs, we try to do challenging sequences and give those couple of runs our absolute all.
